I decided to apply to UCDC because I always have been interested in politics. Although UCDC is not solely for political science majors or those interested in politics, I thought it would be an excellent way for me to begin my career because I would gain great knowledge and experience working for nonprofits. UCDC has completely opened the doors for me and my career in the nonprofit world and I can definitely say that it is something I want to pursue long-term.
To students that are nervous about applying to UCDC I would say to just go for it! I would take every opportunity you can while you are still in college because you never know what you will really like and what you want to do long term. Internship experience is very important to gain while you are still in college and hiring managers really value students who can apply what they have learned in the classroom to internships they may get while they are still in college. So there is nothing to lose by simply just applying!
