My work as an intern […] was valuable in the sense that I was able to gain great work experience for my future. However, I gained invaluable life lessons, stories, friendship, and mentorship that I know I couldn’t have gained anywhere else. Living and working in Washington, D.C. was a surreal and life-changing experience. Having the opportunity to be exposed to the headquarters of American politics and a never ending supply of knowledge surrounding me all at once was humbling and enlightening. I can confidently say that my time in the UCDC program has influenced my life and my future in a positive way that will shape who I am for the rest of my life.
