Haley Tran, a Summer 2023 UCDC participant, was recently featured by the UCI School of Social Sciences. The recent UCI graduate (political science ’24) is about to continue her life as an Anteater as she moves back to D.C. to continue advocating for AANHPI communities at the federal level.

From the piece: “[In the] summer, Tran landed an internship at the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, and joined the UCDC program. The issues at hand were deeply personal to Tran, not only because of her heritage, but because she had graduated from high school in 2020, and witnessed the nationwide rise in anti-Asian hate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Committed to getting as much out of the experience as possible, Tran got involved with every stream of the initiative’s work. She supported the President’s Advisory Commission on AANHPI, drafted press releases and speaking points for officials, and helped host regional listening sessions to learn about concerns of constituents around the country.”
